What is GNG Zygoma Reduction?

If your side or 45 degrees angle of cheekbones are protruded, both are excised and at the same time and rotated inward to reduce the cheekbones, while giving more volumes to front to give youthful appearance. During the reduction process, movement of masseter is predicted before the bones are fastened for more reduction.

Surgery method

  • Through incisions in the mouth, part of the front cheekbones are incised
    in L shape.

    Part of cheekbones are removed
    after incision stage is complete

  • Incised and separated
    cheekbones are roated
    inward and repositioned

    Rough surface of the bone
    is smoothened and firmly
    fastened using the metal plate

Advantage of GNG Zygoma Reduction

Point 1 Maximum reduction of cheekbones
from the front/45 degree angle/side view of the face

You can see definite reduction of cheekbones in every angle since the front, side and 45 degree angle of facial views are considered prior to surgery. During the fastening step of cheekbones, the muscle is pulled upwards so your skin will naturally get firmer and give lifting effect.

Point 2 Movement of masseter is predicted and firmly attached
so the side effects such as dented/saggy skin,
and bone disunion of zygomatic arch are almost non existent.

  • The reason why patients experience dented or saggy cheeks, or even disunion of zygomatic arch is mostly due to incorrect attachment of cheekbones during the surgery. Masseter is a strong muscle that is located between upper cheekbones and bottom of the jaw. When we bite or clench our teeth, the muscle contraction pulls down our cheekbones.

At GNG, we predict the movement of masseter before cheekbones are strongly attached, and this significantly slims the side effect which causes cheekbones moving sideway or downward.

Point 3 Surgery plan is made based on 3D analysis that considers face asymmetry

As cheekbones look different for everyone, shape and thickness of cheekbones as well as condition of patients’ skin must be considered prior to surgery. We therefore conduct 3D analysis that considers front, 45 degrees, and side view of facial angle to create beautiful face line.

3 dimensional analysis is performed using X-ray and 3D CT to analyze shape and thickness of the bone and the condition of skin
